Harvest – Be Prepared

August is our month we talk about money every year. This year we are focusing on the harvest. Churches, and we have been no different, have taught on how to sow, how to be generous, this year we believe that God has challenged us to speak on the harvest, so over August we will be looking at the harvest!

In this scripture there are a few key points that we would like you to pay careful attention to before we receive the 2C9 offering at the end of the month.

  1. That your offering is a willing gift!
  2. That you can give it cheerfully!
  3. That it is seed not bread, i.e. that you are sowing what God has given you to sow, not sowing what you should be using to live. i.e. rent, food or money for bills.

Food for thought

What is your Harvest?

Every farmer plants for a harvest and know what they are expecting.

What are you expecting from your giving?

How can I apply these thoughts?

  1. Know you position or know who you are.

2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

We are imprinted on Christ, not a church or a person. People, whilst they may have your best interests at heart, can become an Intermediary. Whereas we all have direct access to God through Jesus.

How are you growing in your relationship with Jesus?

  1. What is your vision?

Habakkuk 2:2 And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

Take some time this week to clearly write out your vision. This helps keeps us on track, our words, our prayer life and our thought life can be brought into alignment by a written vision.

  1. There is power of your words and thoughts

Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Why don’t you create some asks from God? Sometimes we forget that God is our heavenly Father, and nothing surprises Him. The bible encourages us that we have not because we ask not, so why not ask!

  1. Your past binds you or builds you.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Take some time this week to see if there has been anything in you past that is stopping you from going forward into your future.

What are you fears?

What are events that have happened in your life that has negatively effected the way you think about yourself or others?

If anything comes up as you think about your life Why don’t you make an appointment with a counsellor and get some help to work through any issues.

God was all about building memorials to the success, he did this so the generations would be encouraged.

Joshua 4:4–7 Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the children of Israel, one man from every tribe; and Joshua said to them: “Cross over before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of the Jordan, and each one of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, that this may be a sign among you when your children ask in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ Then you shall answer them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.”

What memorials have you built? Do they celebrate your failures or successes?

Take some time to build a memorial this week that celebrates your past successes, thing where God has made a difference in your life or circumstances

  1. Find a prayer partner and get agreement in prayer

Ecclesiastes  4:9–11 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!

Community is so very important, consider getting involved a small group, where you can experience support in prayer and care!

Changing your mind.

2 Corinthians  9:5Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation.
