My name is Elijsha and I run the youth band at Cy. I wanted to quickly encourage you through one of our favorite songs, New Heart by Citipointe. If you haven’t heard it yet, I DEFINITELY recommend you go do that!
This song tells us about the freedom and life we can have because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. Some of my favorite lines within the song are,
“love called to me like the morning. Broke the dawn and let the hope in”, “All I know is Your freedom.”
FIRE, right?! I want to take one minute of your time to help you understand the GOODNESS within these words.
When I first heard, “Love called to me like the morning. Broke the dawn and let the hope in”, I thought of a psalm that was written by a guy called David in the Bible. David wrote in Psalm 30:5 “Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning.” David knew that God was so full of love for him, that his troubles may be present, but he could take heart knowing that God would come through and help him as sure as the sun rises in the morning.
The second stand out of this song was the words, “All I know is your freedom”. We are promised freedom. Christ has set us free, so we should enjoy and embrace our freedom! Through this freedom we can now walk in faith with our heads high. In every stride, in every step we take He gives us life. We are no longer subject to a broken identity but because of the price Jesus paid on the cross, we now are labelled as victors. So, remain strong in the faith. Don’t let the chains of slavery hold you again!
What is even greater news for you and I is that these words are Truth and the Truth doesn’t change upon circumstance or person. It is the same all the time! Be encouraged, because these words, these truths are what you and I can be confident in, in the midst of troubles and hard times. And rejoice in, in the good times!
Because of Jesus, we have access to life and life abundantly! In the 2 Corinthians 5:17, we are also told that, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
We can take heart and celebrate this together. I think that there is no better way to celebrate this Truth but in a song! If you haven’t heard this song yet, I definitely recommend you do and head over to our Spotify account!
