HIghlights: Nick

There is a lot to know when it comes to understanding God and I still have a lot more to learn. My whole life I have been given so many opportunities from God and recently I’ve taken the big step of fulfilling them by helping others learn more about Jesus, as well as learning more myself.

At my school Christianity isn’t seen as the highlight of things, in fact it’s not valued so highly at all. I thought that means I would have to spend most of my time laying low; but since joining CY and meeting some great people who know Jesus, I’ve had a change of perspective. Instead of fearing what others believe, I saw it as an opportunity to lead people to Christ.

I prayed continually to help people understand what Jesus has done for me and surely, God has delivered. I now have Bible study sessions with people from around the country and Christianity is now a topic at my school that people are comfortable with talking to me about.

Obviously from all this I wanted to go further, for I knew God had bigger plans. I was asked what I believe were 5 significant things that someone would need to know about God and this is what I came up with.

Presence, Purpose, Prayer, Power and Peace.

All these words link to understanding Jesus.

The presence of the Holy Spirit is everywhere. We must learn to listen to him and welcome him as he guides us in our everyday life.

There is a purpose for everyone on this Earth because God looked at the world and said it needs you.

Prayer is talk with God. through him we see healing, miracles and guidance. Praying to God brings us closer to him.

When we have the Holy Spirt working in us and faith in God, we have power from him. God has the power to let the blind see, let the deaf hear and to let the cripple walk again. We must never doubt God because through him, we have the power to make a difference.

Finally, there is peace. This is one of the fruits of the spirits and it’s something that can sometimes be troubling to find. However, through Christ I have been able to find peace within myself and I know God can bring peace to you too, you need only to ask him.

I’d like to share a verse that I find very significant to me.

2 Timothy 1:7
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”

Your spirit is free, let God guide you. For God has given us all a purpose and we must fulfill the opportunities he presents to us. I don’t know what door might open for me next but I sure do look forward to it. What opportunities is God giving you?
